The simple answer, YES
So Mech warrior 4 just got released absolutely free to the public, and after getting flooded with a massive amount of hits, and the server failing, the server is back up and ready to give you some awesome gaming for FREE because i know everyone loves that word.
You might ask why microsoft and mektek is doing this, they are trying to encourage support for an upcoming release that is supposedly going to happen. So we see with this that the mechwarrior universe is not dead it still has a lot of cult followers out there somewhere.
So to any of you out there that never picked this game up, because you were on the fence about it. go to http://www.mektek.net/projects/mw4/
Just follow the instructions and have a great time with this great deal of a game, and good news apparently they are releasing free updates and content with this free game. What a deal!
Speaking of the Force Unleashed, its gone on sale for the 360 over at Amazon.com. Pick it up for $10 Bucks. I’d pick it up but I paid full price.
So if you are looking to pick up an XBox I would Highly suggest getting the elite version especially since its price just dropped to $300!!! The biggest benefit of this is the fact that it has a larger hard drive, I’ve been struggling with my 20GB drive, due to the fact that the new dashboard can copy full games to your hard drive for quicker load times, I generally get 2 games loaded and it struggles with that.
So if you’rein the market for your first XBox or looking to upgrade make sure to pick up the elite version and don’t get suckered into the arcade version like so many unsuspecting people.
I’m sorry I have been really out of the loop this week. With the move and starting the program for school things have been really busy and I haven’t had regular internet access. At this point I don’t know when it will be restored, but hopefully soon. That being said, stop reading this post and go download Dropship by Ngmoco if you are the owner of an iPod Touch or iPhone. Get this thing before it is no longer on sale or whatever it is. There is a few things that really make this game fun, first the controls. You turn your device on its side and if you touch the left half of the screen that becomes your home for your movement joystick. If you touch the right side of the screen that becomes your firing joystick. Now you blow things firing at you up and rescue humans. It is really a great game and when I saw that it was free I knew I needed to find the chance to write about it so that I could make sure all our readers got this thing while it is still on. Enjoy it, and feel free to respond to my post telling me what you thought of it.
As you all know I usually try my very best to avoid Gamestop. Those who have paid much attention to console gaming also know that PS3 and XBox 360 have had significant price cuts since they debuted, which the Wii hasn’t. Let’s be honest, they haven’t needed a price cut because the systems are still selling like crazy. However some of the first signs that a price cut may be on the way is when they start packing more things into a bundle for the same price. Gamestop is doing just that. Check out here the list of games that you can get for free with the purchase of a Wii through the 26th.

My recommendation would be to pick up ExciteBots of that list for a goofy and fun racer. Or Wario Land: Shake It if you are looking for a party. Or if you are going to be getting Wii Fit as well so you will have a balance board, then pick up Shaun White: Snowboarding Road Trip which is tons better on the Wii thaon on other systems.
A 1-Year Subscription to Nintendo Power Magazine can be had for $5. Order it from Tanga and use the code 7566 for $14.50 off. $19.95-14.50= $5.45. I am usually not a huge fan of the magazine because I have found the reviews to be rather biased however they do have great up and coming information for games on the Nintendo systems. Some times they have cool pack ins as well. At this price it might just be worth it!

Currently Prototype for the PS3, 360, and PC is onsale for $20 dollars off. If you have been contemplating picking it up soon here is your chance.
Prototype game description
Developed by Radical Entertainment, a critically acclaimed developer of open-world games, PROTOTYPE tells the story of Alex Mercer – a man haunted by his past, fighting a secret war in New York City. As the action spirals out of control, a conspiracy tied to his origins threatens the future of mankind itself. Mercer’s amazing shapeshifting powers allow him to become an exact replica and steal the skills or powers of anyone who crosses his path.
I was looking around at games and spotted a few great deals floating around out there. J as well spotted a couple on the iPhone and we thought we should share them all with you.
1. Sins of a Solar Empire- I received an email from Stardock this morning about some of the deals they are running off their digital distribution service Impulse this weekend and one in particular jumped out at me. At the bottom of the email I received there was a banner advertising Sins of a Solar Empire, they are advertising the original game and its expansion for $30.00 this is an insanely great deal considering when J bought the game it was $60. Definately a great game for any person looking for an RTS with tons of depth and strategy, it’s on my personal list for one of the best games that Ihave played

I know each Dad is different, but I am certain there are many people out there still wondering what do for their Father because fast coming is that Sunday. Here are 4 good ideas since let’s face it, Dad’s are hard to shop for!
1. GPS Unit- These things used to be so expensive, I remember I bought one just over a year ago and though I got a good deal becasue it was under $200. Now look at it and you can get them for$70-$80 for basic functionality. There are really three brands I trust more than all the rest, TomTom, Magellan, and Garmin are all good bets. TomTom is better on the lower end but if you want all the bells and whistles my dad swears by Garmin.

Dad won't have to ask directions anymore!
2. Blu Ray Player- You know that big digital TV he bought to go with the digital transition? Well the best thing to compliment it would be a Blu Ray player that he can see his favorite films in high def!

For awesome movie quality, use Blu Ray!
3. Digital Picture Frame- Here is the item you get that you can update with new pictures whenever you want. He will feel pretty cool putting it on his desk that flashes pictures of his kids and grandkids! These are getting quite reasonable if you are on a tight budget.

Suddenly he will only need one frame on his desk!
4. Swiss Army Knife- You know that knives are always useful to carry around, well what if it would be useful in the technology world when he can carry his documents around with a knife. That is just cool!

For the Dad with everything!
Leave us a comment if you have more good ideas for the Geek Dad!
